Feeding Habits
White-bellied Goshawk preys on lizards, geckos, various insects, and small mammals. Despite being a fierce hunter, birds are less significant in its diet than previously thought. White-bellied Goshawk's perch-hunting strategy involves waiting for ground or tree prey from low perches, indicating a broad prey spectrum.
Habitat
The white-bellied Goshawk primarily inhabits tropical rainforests and forest edges in lowland and hilly regions. It thrives in both dense primary growth and secondary growth, as well as in humid evergreen forests. The white-bellied Goshawk occasionally ventures into savanna woodlands, tall maquis, mangroves, and even cultivated areas. Preferring densely wooded environments, the white-bellied Goshawk overlaps with similar species only in semi-forested areas, where it is more likely to encroach upon the territories of others than vice versa.
