Habitat
Vinous-breasted Starling thrives in a range of open and modified landscapes, including grasslands, gardens, playing fields, and cultivated areas such as orchards. It also adapts to urban environments like rubbish dumps and urban areas. Vinous-breasted Starling can be found inhabiting scrublands, semi-desert regions, and large clearings within forests. It is predominantly a lowland species but can occur at elevations up to 2,000 meters, particularly in the broader geographical regions such as Southeast Asia.

It is found in Cambodia, China, Laos, Malaysia, Burma, Thailand, and Vietnam. In the early 2000s it has become an invasive species in Israel, alongside the common myna that invaded a few years earlier. Both populations seem to have started from individuals that escaped from a bird park in Tel Aviv.
