Description
The mossy-nest swiftlet (Aerodramus salangana) is a species of swift in the family Apodidae. Some taxonomists consider it to be a subspecies of the uniform swiftlet. It is found in northern Borneo, the Natuna and the Derawan Islands and Nias island off western Sumatra. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Feeding Habits
Mossy-nest Swiftlet primarily consumes insects from 22 families, favoring beetles, ants, and termites. Highly social, mossy-nest Swiftlet forages with others and is most active at dusk and dawn. It feeds within forests and lower areas.
Habitat
The mossy-nest Swiftlet typically dwells in environments close to breeding caves. These habitats include areas near primary forests where caves are most prevalent. The species is adapted to foraging at lower altitudes and maintains proximity to their nests, often feeding together with other swiftlets at insect swarms.
