Feeding Habits
Blackish-blue Seedeater's diet primarily includes bamboo seeds, like those from Chusquea ramosissima, various other seeds, insects, and even bamboo leaf petioles, such as from Merostachys claussenii. Typically foraging alone or in pairs, blackish-blue Seedeater searches for food around 2–3 meters above ground and occasionally on the ground.
Habitat
The blackish-blue Seedeater is primarily found in the underbrush of tropical forests and woodlands, with a predilection for areas dense in bamboo, notably from the Chusquea and Guadua genera. They are often associated with forest edges where there is thick middle-level vegetation and understorey. These birds are also known to inhabit forests that contain Araucaria angustifolia trees.
