Feeding Habits

Noted for a diet that varies seasonally, these birds adjust their feeding behavior based on food availability.
Habitat
The red-spectacled Amazon typically inhabits forest regions, favoring lowland riverine broadleaf forests and particularly the Araucaria angustifolia forests in the northern part of its range. Seasonally, these birds extensively utilize groves of Podocarpus lambertii. In the southern areas, they are found in similar riverine environments. The major breeding grounds are located in the savanna regions of the southeast, where they reside in open woodlands dominated by a variety of tree species including Podocarpus, Lythraea, Scutia, Celtis, Allophylus, Eugenia, Schinus, and Sebastiania.
