Habitat
The vinaceous-breasted Amazon primarily inhabits the Atlantic forest, and areas where this forest transitions into grasslands and cerrado ecosystems. It favors the mixed forest rich in parana pine trees for both foraging—especially during winter due to the pine seeds—and nesting. Despite these preferences, vinaceous-breasted Amazon can be found in various environments such as young secondary vegetation, pastures, natural grasslands, and even in annual crop fields. They typically roost within forest remnants and plantation areas with exotic trees like pines and eucalyptus. Although native forests are crucial for their sustenance, vinaceous-breasted Amazon is also adapted to suburban areas, including small farms and forest patches near human settlements.
