Description
The Cape teal (Anas capensis) is a 44–46 cm long dabbling duck of open wetlands in sub-Saharan Africa.

Feeding Habits
Cape Teal consumes a diet mainly of aquatic invertebrates and plant matter, foraging by swimming, dabbling, and occasionally diving. Prefers afternoon feeding in shallow waters, sometimes in large flocks during moulting season.
Habitat
The cape Teal favors environments that typically include shallow brackish or saline waters. Its habitats range from coastal ecosystems such as estuaries and tidal mudflats to inland waters like saltpans, lagoons, and rivers. The cape Teal is adaptable and can also be found in freshwater systems, but shows a strong preference for wetlands with a certain degree of salinity.
