Description
Description
The broad-tipped hermit (Anopetia gounellei) is a species of hummingbird found in northeast Brazil that has been placed in a monotypic genus Anopetia. It has a large range and is not endangered. There is a consideration that A. gounellei can be the effective pollinator of plants. To explore the climate and altitude conditions that A. gounellei can endure, detailed studies, such as niche modeling and natural history, are still needed.

Feeding Habits
Broad-tipped Hermit primarily feeds on nectar and small arthropods, frequenting flowers from a wide variety, including 25 species across 13 plant families. Exhibits trap-lining behavior, suggesting a methodical approach to visiting various nectar sources.
Habitat
The broad-tipped Hermit's habitat is characterized by more humid areas within the Caatinga region, favoring environments with shrubs or trees and dense undergrowth. It is typically found in arboreal and shrubby secondary caatinga, as well as open to semi-open and disturbed areas. Additionally, it inhabits semi-deciduous forests adjacent to campo cerrado and the cerrado sensu stricto areas that border arboreal caatinga, including ombrophilous forests.
