Description
Hellmayr's pipit (Anthus hellmayri) is a species of bird in the family Motacillidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay. Its natural habitats are temperate grassland, subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland, and pastureland.

Hellmayr's Pipit resides in a array of open landscapes including Puna, Pampas, expansive grasslands, and rocky terrains, as well as cultivated areas such as farmland. Generally preferring moist grasslands in the Puna zone, hellmayr's Pipit is also comfortable in dry, grassy hillsides and utilizes pastures and agricultural terrains in the eastern parts of its habitat. During breeding seasons, hellmayr's Pipit can be found in secondary grasslands and environments with a mainly herbaceous layer dotted with occasional thickets. Hellmayr's Pipit demonstrates a particular affinity for recently burned grasslands where it thrives in short grass and bare soil patches.
