Description
The spectacled spiderhunter (Arachnothera flavigaster) is a species of bird in the family Nectariniidae. It is found in Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. This is both the largest spiderhunter and the largest representative of its family.

Spectacled Spiderhunter specializes in consuming insects, spiders, pollen, fruit, and nectar. Typically forages alone or in small groups, favoring the forest canopy. Known for hovering and probing flowers, this bird both pollinates and feeds from plants like durian trees.
Habitat
The spectacled Spiderhunter thrives in tropical environments, predominantly occupying lowland dipterocarp forests, peat-swamp forests, and secondary growth areas. This bird adapts well to modified landscapes, frequently inhabiting forest edges, clearings, plantations, and even cultivated regions and gardens. It has an affinity for areas with bananas and gingers, indicative of its reliance on certain plant species for sustenance and habitat.
