Feeding Habits
Frilled Monarch consumes arthropods like crickets and weevils. Often seen in feeding flocks, it forages in the forest middle stratum to lower canopy, gleaning from various vegetation and performing aerial pursuits for flying insects. Sexes exhibit distinct feeding strategies, with females making more aerial sallies and males focusing lower, including on vines and trunks.
Habitat
Frilled Monarch is typically found in a variety of forest habitats, including dense rainforests, the edges of forests, gallery forests, and areas of regrowth following disturbance or logging. These birds favor environments in the lowlands and hilly regions, where they can take advantage of the diverse forest structure and resources.
