Description
The streak-throated canastero (Asthenes humilis) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae. It is found in Bolivia and Peru. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical high-altitude grassland. Three subspecies are recognized: A. h. cajamarcae Zimmer, JT, 1936 - northwestern Peru A. h. humilis (Cabanis, 1873) - central Peru A. h. robusta (von Berlepsch, 1901) - southern Peru and northern Bolivia

Feeding Habits
Streak-throated Canastero primarily feeds on Coleoptera, Lepidoptera larvae, and small seeds. This bird forages alone or in pairs, gleaning arthropods from the ground and at the bases of bunch-grasses, exhibiting specialized foraging behavior.
Habitat
Streak-throated Canastero typically inhabits puna grasslands that are rocky in nature, sometimes interspersed with sparse shrubbery. These birds prefer areas that exhibit grassland ecosystems which are generally characterized by grasses, herbs, and few trees or shrubs, subject to the regional climatic conditions.
