Description
The white-naped brushfinch (Atlapetes albinucha), also known as the yellow-throated brush finch, is a species of bird in the family Passerellidae. It is found in Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and heavily degraded former forest.

Feeding Habits
White-naped Brushfinch primarily feeds on insects and seeds, but also enjoys bananas. Its foraging typically involves sifting through debris and foliage. Unique in its diet, white-naped Brushfinch has a marked preference for bananas among fruits.
Habitat
White-naped Brushfinch typically inhabits regions with thick undergrowth, shrubby clearings, and cloudforest openings. This species favors the dense borders of tropical forests, temperate forests with oaks and other broadleaf trees, as well as mixed pine areas. It can also be found in thick cypress stands, secondary forests with tangled growth, and forest edges with dense shrubbery. White-naped Brushfinch is often seen at altitudes ranging from 1200 to 3150 meters, where it prefers epiphyte-rich subtropical forests and thickets, including roadside vegetation.
