Feeding Habits
Hooded Visorbearer predominantly feeds on nectar from various plants, including cacti, bromeliads, and families such as Verbenaceae, Sterculiaceae, Rubiaceae, Myrtaceae, and Loranthaceae. Uniquely, it also captures insects mid-air through hawking.
Habitat
The hooded Visorbearer is typically found in plateau regions characterized by the presence of cacti and a selection of small xerophytic shrubs. These birds prefer areas with low vegetation, frequently foraging at heights of less than one meter, and are selective in their habitat, sometimes absent from areas lower than their preferred elevation that appear suitable.
