Description
The white-eyed foliage-gleaner (Automolus leucophthalmus) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae. It is found in forests and old second growth in south-eastern Brazil, eastern Paraguay and far north-eastern Argentina. Until recently, it included the Pernambuco foliage-gleaner as a subspecies.

Feeding Habits
White-eyed Foliage-gleaner primarily consumes a variety of insects like beetles, ants, grasshoppers, and caterpillars, along with snails and spiders. It forages in the understorey, gleaning prey from dead foliage and debris, often joining mixed-species flocks and exploiting epiphytes and bamboo thickets.
Habitat
The white-eyed Foliage-gleaner primarily resides in tropical lowland evergreen forests, which are characterized by dense and continuous canopy cover, and it can also be found in tall secondary growth areas. These environments are typically situated at lower altitudes, offering a consistently warm and humid climate essential for the species. The white-eyed Foliage-gleaner is generally found in these forested habitats across broad tropical regions.
