The golden-chested tanager (Bangsia rothschildi) is a species of bird in the family Thraupidae. It is found in Colombia and Ecuador. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Golden-chested Tanager primarily inhabits the mid-levels and subcanopy of humid tropical lowland evergreen forests and pre-montane forests. This species is also associated with the forest borders and edges of pluvial foothill forests, preferring habitats within the Lower Tropical Zone. While predominantly found in these regions, golden-chested Tanager's habitat extends to Montane Evergreen Forests, showcasing a preference for dense, wet forest environments across broad geographical regions of northern South America.
