Feeding Habits
Golden-winged Cacique consumes a diverse diet including insects, small vertebrates, fruits, and nectar. They forage by probing into bark and galls, and may feed upside-down. Golden-winged Cacique often forages arboreally in mixed flocks, displaying unique adaptations for diverse food sources.
Habitat
The golden-winged Cacique typically dwells in mountainous forest regions with high humidity, such as yungas on the Andean slopes, and is associated with forest types ranging from alder and Podocarpus zones to forest edges. Broadly, its habitat spans across various forest ecosystems including humid and mesic chaco woodlands, transitional chiquitano forests, and even into areas of the Atlantic Forest—from well-preserved to degraded segments. Golden-winged Cacique shows a preference for environments rich in watercourses, frequently occupying riparian or gallery forests in the drier parts of its range.
