Description
The rufous fieldwren (Calamanthus campestris) is a species of bird in the family Acanthizidae, endemic to Australia.

Feeding Habits
Rufous Fieldwren predominantly consumes arthropods like beetles, bugs, wasps, ants, and spiders, supplemented with snails and various seeds and fruits. It forages on the ground or in low shrubs, running or hopping with its tail cocked, and uniquely uses rabbit burrows for refuge.
Habitat
The rufous Fieldwren is commonly found in a variety of shrubland habitats, including regions dominated by saltbush and bluebush, along with samphire and heathlands rich in mallee. This bird prefers areas with dense vegetation like paperbarks, Allocasuarina, and acacias. It can also be seen in spinifex areas under mallee trees, among dwarf mangroves, as well as near gibber plains, sandplains, and in proximity to saline or brackish wetlands.
