The red-necked woodpecker (Campephilus rubricollis) is a species of bird in the family Picidae. It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.

The red-necked Woodpecker primarily occupies dense rainforests, including both terra firme and várzea forests, steering clear of open or disturbed areas. It frequents cloud forests, edges of forests, areas of light secondary growth, and riverine woodlands within savanna landscapes. The red-necked Woodpecker is also a regular inhabitant of sandy-belt woodlands. While foraging, these birds favor the interiors of large trees and are typically observed alone or in pairs.
