18 cm
Feeding Habits
Orange-fronted Barbet consume a variety of fruits, particularly from Cecropia species and Castilla elastica, and supplement their diet with beetles and likely other insects. Typically foraging in pairs across different levels of foliage, orange-fronted Barbet are also known to join mixed-species flocks, sift through dead leaves for prey, and play a role in seed dispersal.
Habitat
Orange-fronted Barbet primarily inhabits wet lowland and hill forests within tropical regions. It shows adaptability to various degrees of forest modification, ranging into secondary forests, forest edges, as well as human-altered landscapes including cultivated areas, farms, orchards, and pastures that contain fruiting trees. Moreover, orange-fronted Barbet is known to traverse vast open spaces to reach isolated trees with fruit. Its elevation range typically falls below 800 m, extending up to 1500 m in certain locales. In zones of cohabitation with similar species, orange-fronted Barbet is distinguished by its tendency to frequent younger secondary growths and plantations.
Dite type
Frugivorous
