Feeding Habits
Orange-fronted Barbet consume a variety of fruits, particularly from Cecropia species and Castilla elastica, and supplement their diet with beetles and likely other insects. Typically foraging in pairs across different levels of foliage, orange-fronted Barbet are also known to join mixed-species flocks, sift through dead leaves for prey, and play a role in seed dispersal.
Habitat
Orange-fronted Barbet thrives in tropical wet lowland and hill forests, often venturing into secondary growths and forest edges. Adaptable, the species occupies human-modified areas like farms and orchards with fruiting trees. Typically found below 800 m elevation, it can ascend to 1500 m and readily crosses open spaces to locate isolated fruit-bearing trees.
