The spot-winged rosefinch (Carpodacus rodopeplus), also known as the spotted rosefinch, is a species of finch in the family Fringillidae. It is found in India and Nepal. 17 cm
Feeding Habits
Spot-winged Rosefinch mostly consumes small seeds and rose hips, foraging on the ground and in bushes. With a preference for perching openly on bush and tree tops while feeding, spot-winged Rosefinch tends to be shy and retiring by nature.
Habitat
The spot-winged Rosefinch primarily inhabits a variety of shrub-dominated landscapes, including thickets of rhododendron, Caragana, barberry, rose, and bamboo. It is commonly found in alpine meadows and grassy slopes above the treeline as well as along the edges of conifer forests. Outside of the breeding season, spot-winged Rosefinch descends to mixed forests and grassy hillsides, favoring habitats with bamboo thickets and dense scrub vegetation.
