20 cm
Feeding Habits
Streaked Rosefinch predominantly consumes small seeds from juniper, sea-buckthorn, and Caragana. It forages in varied environments including bushes, low trees, and alpine grasslands, showing a preference for areas with dense scrub. Observed feeding behavior includes shyness on the ground, wing and tail flicks when disturbed, and sometimes feeding alongside other finch species.
Habitat
The streaked Rosefinch typically inhabits montane arid environments and dry alpine plateaux, often above the forest tree-line. Its preferred terrains include rocky screes and slopes with sparse, scrubby vegetation, characterized by growths of dwarf juniper, willow, sea-buckthorn, and Caragana bushes. During the non-breeding season, streaked Rosefinch descends to valleys and lower elevation areas with dense thorn-scrub and Caragana scrub, and may be found occasionally near human settlements.
