Description
The white-eared monarch (Carterornis leucotis), or white-eared flycatcher, is a species of bird in the family Monarchidae. It is endemic to north-eastern Australia. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. The white-eared monarch was originally described in the genus Monarcha until moved to Carterornis in 2009.

Feeding Habits
White-eared Monarch primarily consumes small invertebrates such as beetles and orthopterans. They actively forage alone or in groups, utilizing the upper canopy to flush and pursue insects. Unique feeding occurs during the day's heat, showing distinctive agitation behaviors.
Habitat
The white-eared Monarch typically inhabits primary and secondary lowland and coastal rainforests, with a presence in both dry and wet sclerophyll forests. This bird can also be found in Melaleuca paperbark groves, mangrove ecosystems, eucalyptus forests and woodlands, as well as in scrub areas, particularly those adjacent to streams.
