The rufous casiornis (Casiornis rufus) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in northern Argentina, Bolivia, mid-central Brazil, Paraguay, and northeastern Uruguay; it is a vagrant to eastern Peru and more northern parts of the Amazon Rainforest. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests.

Feeding Habits
Rufous Casiornis primarily preys on insects, captured through sallying from perches. Characteristic behaviors include erect posture, raised crown feathers, and head nodding, similar to Myiarchus flycatchers.
Habitat
The rufous Casiornis thrives in varied woodlands, including deciduous and gallery forests, with a preference for densely wooded areas in the cerrado biome, as well as the distinct Chaco woodland and surrounding scrubland. This species is also known to inhabit riparian woodlands and thickets predominantly during the non-breeding season.
