Feeding Habits
Plain-colored Seedeater primarily feeds on seeds, foraging on the ground and perching on Espeletia stems to eat seeds from clusters. They feed alone or in pairs, and join larger flocks in the non-breeding season, occasionally mingling with similar species.
Habitat
The plain-colored Seedeater typically inhabits open highland grasslands, including the unique Espeletia páramo and puna regions characterized by grassy terrains. They are often found in pastures with interspersed shrubs or adjacent small trees, as well as at the edges of Polylepis forests and within areas of short Polylepis scrub. Preferring slopes, especially those that are shrubby, the plain-colored Seedeater is more frequently associated with arid locations rather than moist environments.
