Description
The yellow-chinned spinetail is typically 15 cm long, and weighs 15 g. It is a slender bird with a long tail. The upperparts and head are chestnut brown, and the underparts are whitish apart from the pale yellow throat. The sexes are similar, but there are several subspecies, differing in forecrown colour or upperparts tone. Its call is a shrill rattling.

Feeding Habits
Yellow-chinned Spinetail feeds primarily on arthropods, including beetles, moth larvae, true bugs, dragonflies, ants, grasshoppers, flies, termites, spiders, and even the occasional crab. They forage alone or in pairs, mainly near the ground, gleaning prey from vegetation, sometimes from water or ground.
Habitat
The yellow-chinned Spinetail primarily inhabits freshwater marshes and edges of mangrove forests, thriving in diverse wetlands characterized by a blend of grasses, shrubs, and both emergent and floating vegetation. This species is notably prevalent on overgrown old river islands and helps populate dense coastal vegetation zones, including overgrown ditches.
