Description
The rufous-shafted woodstar (Chaetocercus jourdanii) is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae. It is found in Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago and far northeastern Colombia. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist montane forest and heavily degraded former forest.

Feeding Habits
Rufous-shafted Woodstar primarily feeds on nectar, especially from flowering Inga trees, and catches insects mid-air using a hawking technique similar to C. mulsant.
Habitat
Rufous-shafted Woodstar primarily inhabits scrublands and edges of montane forests, often foraging in the middle to upper strata. Additionally, rufous-shafted Woodstar can be found in anthropogenic landscapes such as coffee plantations and may venture into sub-páramo regions. These birds tend to favor environments that provide a range of floral resources at varying heights.
