Description
The ruby-cheeked sunbird (Chalcoparia singalensis) is a species of sunbird in the family Nectariniidae.

Feeding Habits
Ruby-cheeked Sunbird primarily feeds on insects such as caterpillars and spiders, with an addition of fruits, pollen, and nectar. Foraging occurs mainly in the upper canopy, sometimes descending lower, including feeding at spider webs. Ruby-cheeked Sunbird probes flowers for nectar and gleans insects off leaves.
Habitat
The ruby-cheeked Sunbird primarily inhabits tropical and subtropical regions, favoring a range of lush, dense wetland environments. Commonly seen in varied forest ecosystems, it thrives within moist lowland and montane forests, as well as mangrove forests. Broadly, ruby-cheeked Sunbird can be found in areas with riverine vegetation, and has adapted to human-altered landscapes, such as plantations, coconut groves, and gardens. Its habitat spans from sea level up to approximately 1000 meters in elevation.
