Description
Stephan's emerald dove (Chalcophaps stephani) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is found in Sulawesi, New Guinea and the Solomon Islands.

Feeding Habits
Stephan's Emerald Dove primarily forages on the ground for seeds, fallen fruit, likely insects, and grit. Occasionally feeds on seeds from digested fruits beneath Metallic Starling colonies. While sometimes found in shrubs, ground feeding is prevalent, typically alone or in small groups.
Habitat
The stephan's Emerald Dove inhabits humid interiors of evergreen forests and can also be found in secondary coastal forests with a preference for dense forest areas in tropical regions. They are adaptable, extending into forest edges, degraded woodlands, and even plantation areas with undergrowth. Ecologically, they maintain distinct niches, reducing overlap with related species.
