Description
The rufous-tailed antthrush or Brazilian antthrush (Chamaeza ruficauda) is a species of bird in the family Formicariidae. It is endemic to the Atlantic Forest in southeastern Brazil and far northeastern Argentina (only Misiones Province). The cryptic antthrush and short-tailed antthrush are present in the same region, but these are mainly found at lower altitudes than the rufous-tailed antthrush.

20 cm
Feeding Habits
Rufous-tailed Antthrush forages solitarily or in pairs on the forest floor, slowly walking to consume spiders, ground insects, and ingests grit, likely aiding digestion.
Habitat
The habitat of rufous-tailed Antthrush primarily includes humid montane forests, forest borders, and mature secondary woodlands, where dense undergrowth predominates. These environments support the species in broader geographical regions of higher elevations, generally preferring areas with thicker vegetation cover, which provides necessary conditions for its survival and reproduction.
