Description
The spike-heeled lark (Chersomanes albofasciata) is a species of lark in the family Alaudidae. It is found in southern Africa. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry shrubland and subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland.

The spike-heeled Lark occupies a range of open environments primarily characterized by grasslands, shrublands, semi-deserts, and desert plains. It is commonly found in high-rainfall grasslands and arid regions with both succulent and non-succulent vegetation. This species frequently inhabits areas with burrows made by mammals and occasionally areas like lawns and sports fields, yet typically avoids agricultural lands. Spike-heeled Lark can also be seen around the edges of certain inland pans.
