Description
The grey-capped Greenfinch is a friendly bird that likes to twitter while flying. The finch is often seen in woodlands and its yellow feathers distinguish it from other species. The small songbird feeds on seeds, often found on the ground. However, it also eats insects and small invertebrates in the summer.

Feeding Habits
Grey-capped Greenfinch's diet comprises seeds from weeds and shrubs, sunflower seeds, rice, buckwheat, and other grains, supplemented with insects, spiders, and small invertebrates. Grey-capped Greenfinch forages primarily on the ground, showing a preference for varied seed types and occasional protein from invertebrates.
Habitat
Grey-capped Greenfinch typically inhabits a variety of wooded environments including lowland and lower montane broadleaf and conifer forests, often frequenting secondary woodlands and river valleys. They are found in regions with trees and bushes, hedgerows, and riverbanks, thriving in areas up to approximately 2400 meters in elevation. During the non-breeding season, grey-capped Greenfinch expands its range to include plains and coastal fields, and adapts to human-altered landscapes such as cultivated fields, orchards, city parks, gardens, and the periphery of villages and urban areas.
