Description
The chestnut-breasted chlorophonia (Chlorophonia pyrrhophrys) is a bird species in the family Fringillidae (formerly in Thraupidae). It is found in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Feeding Habits
Chestnut-breasted Chlorophonia primarily feeds on mistletoe berries, various Ericaceae berries, and fig fruits, with occasional insects. They forage mostly in pairs or small groups, typically in mossy canopies, and show a preference for spending time in epiphytic clumps while searching for food.
Habitat
The chestnut-breasted Chlorophonia typically inhabits humid and wet montane forests known for their abundance of epiphytes, often referred to as cloud forests. These birds are also found along forest borders and within older second-growth woodlands. Their preferred environments feature dense vegetation and are part of broader geographical regions that host cloud forests.
