Feeding Habits
Orange-bellied Leafbird are generalist feeders, consuming arthropods, fruits, and nectar. They glean foliage for insects, forage alone or with others, and may defend flowering foraging patches. With a special technique, they squeeze out fruit contents and acrobatically extract nectar from deep flowers, aiding in pollination.
Habitat
The orange-bellied Leafbird thrives primarily in the canopy and edges of deciduous to evergreen forests, as well as in areas of secondary growth. They are also adaptable to human-altered landscapes, including wooded parks and gardens. Found predominantly in montane forest environments at lower latitudes, orange-bellied Leafbird frequent these habitats for their abundance of forest-edge fruit sources.
