Description
The buff-spotted flameback (Chrysocolaptes lucidus) is a species of bird in the family Picidae. It is found on the Philippine islands of Bohol, Leyte, Samar, Biliran, Panaon, Mindanao, Basilan, and Samal. It is sometimes considered a subspecies of the greater flameback.

Feeding Habits
Buff-spotted Flameback primarily consumes invertebrates, including large caterpillars, wood-boring beetle larvae, pupae, and ants. Buff-spotted Flameback often forages on big trees and sometimes the ground, either in pairs, family groups, or with other woodpeckers, such as Dryocopus javensis.
Habitat
The buff-spotted Flameback typically inhabits a variety of woodland environments ranging from primary and mature secondary forests to areas of lighter secondary growth with dense undergrowth. It is also found in areas with dense riparian vegetation and often frequents the vicinity of agricultural lands as well as areas near human habitation.
