Description
The purple-banded sunbird (Cinnyris bifasciatus) is a species of bird in the family Nectariniidae. It is found in Angola, Botswana, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Somalia, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. The Tsavo sunbird, sometimes lumped with the purple-banded, is here considered a separate species.

Feeding Habits
Purple-banded Sunbird feeds on nectar, seeds, insects, and spiders, often foraging alone or in pairs. They are known to mix with other sunbirds and frequent a variety of flowering plants, including Acacia and aloes, as well as mistletoes.
Habitat
Purple-banded Sunbird thrive in a variety of woodland habitats including coastal and riverine areas, savanna, miombo, and broadleaf woodlands. They are also adaptable to dry forests, moist evergreen forests, and human-altered landscapes such as cultivated fields, grasslands, and gardens.
