The black-backed grass singer (Cisticola galactotes) is a bird from the Cisticolidae family, a recently split-off family within the singers of the Old World.

Feeding Habits
Rufous-winged Cisticola primarily consumes insects and small invertebrates, such as grasshoppers, beetles, caterpillars, and worms, supplemented by seeds. They forage in undergrowth, near the bases of reeds, and on ground, utilizing low vegetation to hunt for prey.
Habitat
The rufous-winged Cisticola thrives in a range of wetland-associated habitats, primarily inhabiting subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland and swampy areas. Broadly distributed across regions with perennial wetlands, this species is often found amongst reedbeds, rushes, and areas of dense vegetation near water bodies, including estuaries. The rufous-winged Cisticola also adapts to human-altered landscapes, frequenting the scrubby margins of agricultural fields such as maize and sugar-cane plantations, but generally avoids places with standing water.
