Size
15 cm
Feeding Habits
Violet-throated Starfrontlet's diet primarily consists of nectar from flowers like Vrisea, Fuchsia, and Bomarea, supplementing with arthropods by gleaning or hawking. Violet-throated Starfrontlet employs trap-lining foraging behavior along the periphery of vegetation or inside forests.
Habitat
The primary habitat of violet-throated Starfrontlet consists of edges and clearings within cloudforests and elfin forests. These birds are frequently found in regions where there is secondary growth vegetation, indicative of an affinity for various stages of forest regrowth. They thrive in environments characterized by dense, moist, montane forests, which are typically encompassed within broader geographical regions of cloud-forested areas.
