Description
The Chilean flicker (Colaptes pitius) is a species of bird in the family Picidae. It is found in Argentina and Chile. Its natural habitats are temperate forests, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and heavily degraded former forest.

Feeding Habits
Chilean Flicker mainly consumes ants and their larvae, occasionally eating scorpions and grubs. Chilean Flicker forages on the ground in noisy family groups, using poking and digging actions near trees, and is less enthusiastic about feeding in trees.
Habitat
The chilean Flicker typically resides in wooded regions characterized by a mix of woodlands, forest edges, particularly areas within Nothofagus forests, riparian woodlands, as well as tree plantations. It also adapts to assorted scrub landscapes, often with intermingled shrubbery. Chilean Flicker are found from lowland areas up to higher altitudes, although elevation specifics are omitted as per guidelines.
