Description
The Arafura shrikethrush (Colluricincla megarhyncha) is a species of bird in the family Pachycephalidae.

Feeding Habits
Arafura Shrikethrush primarily consumes invertebrates, including insects, spiders, snails, and occasionally crabs, seeds, fruit, and rarely small birds. Arafura Shrikethrush forages from ground up to canopy, predominantly in lower strata, utilizing gleaning, flutter-chase, and sally-striking techniques. Unique prey capture involves bashing snail shells against substrates.
Habitat
The arafura Shrikethrush occupies diverse forested habitats across broader geographical regions of New Guinea and Australia. Typically found in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and montane forests, arafura Shrikethrush is also associated with monsoon, gallery, and disturbed forests, as well as tall secondary growth up to elevations of 1850 m. In Australia, arafura Shrikethrush ventures into wet sclerophyll forests and gardens near rainforests, also inhabiting mangroves, Melaleuca swamps, riparian zones, and coastal woodlands, though it primarily resides in the lowlands and occasionally in mountains.
