Description
The Picui ground dove (Columbina picui) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, subtropical or tropical moist shrubland, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and heavily degraded former forest.

Feeding Habits
Picui Ground Dove mainly eat seeds, such as sorghum. They forage on the ground in groups, sometimes hundreds strong, especially in hemp fields.
Habitat
The habitat of picui Ground Dove primarily encompasses arid regions, including forest edges, savannas with open grasslands, and areas speckled with scattered trees and cover. These doves are also found in open Prosopis scrub forests. They adapt to human-modified landscapes, frequenting suburban areas, gardens, and agricultural lands, particularly taking advantage of recently disturbed environments such as burnt or ploughed fields. They are prevalent in the broader geographical regions encompassing the Andes and Yungas.
