Description
The cinereous conebill (Conirostrum cinereum) is a species of bird in the tanager family Thraupidae. The term cinereous describes its colouration. It is found in Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist shrubland, subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland, and heavily degraded former forest.

The cinereous Conebill occupies diverse ecological zones, favoring environments that range from arid to moderately humid. These birds are typically found in bushy woodland borders, patches of dense shrubbery, gardens, and other lightly wooded areas, including Polylepis woodlands. They also inhabit shrubby sites, riparian thickets, and scrubby vegetation on slopes, demonstrating a preference for areas with extensive plant cover.
