Feeding Habits
Blue-backed Conebill primarily eats insects, foraging in pairs or groups often among mixed-species flocks. As a "gleaner," blue-backed Conebill inspects leafy surfaces from various angles, even upside-down, and may pursue prey midair. Blue-backed Conebill forages visibly, not very elusive.
Habitat
The blue-backed Conebill is typically found in humid montane forests, as well as the borders of such forests and adjacent stunted elfin woodlands, often near the tree-line. Their habitat preference is for regions characterized by high humidity and dense vegetation that provides ample foraging opportunities, making these forested areas ideal for their existence.
