13 cm
Feeding Habits
Ash-throated Gnateater feeds mainly on small arthropods, hunting them in foliage and leaf litter via short reaches and gleans, indicative of ground-level foraging.
Habitat
The ash-throated Gnateater typically resides in the understorey of tall terra firme forests, favoring slightly disturbed areas such as vine tangles and treefalls, yet rarely seen in Guadua bamboo. These birds are often associated with forest slopes and ridgetops and can also occupy várzea habitats. Geographically, their presence spans across broadleaf forests in tropical regions, where they may coexist with other Gnateater species, particularly in areas not dominated by blackwater ecosystems.
