Description
The Lesser Antillean pewee (Contopus latirostris) is a species of bird in the family Tyrannidae. It is found in Dominica, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Puerto Rico, and Saint Lucia with records from Saint Kitts. Birds on Puerto Rico are sometimes considered to be a separate species (Puerto Rican pewee, C. portoricensis) as are those on Saint Lucia (Saint Lucia pewee, C. oberi). Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forest, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forest.

Feeding Habits
Lesser Antillean Pewee primarily consumes insects, employing a sit-and-wait tactic to snatch prey from the air or foliage. It exhibits unique agility in flight during hunting, surfacing its specialized insectivorous adaptation.
Habitat
The lesser Antillean Pewee typically inhabits moist upland and mountain forests, as well as wooded hills. Broader geographical regions for this habitat include tropical subtropical zones where they are also found in man-made landscapes like coffee plantations. Locally, lesser Antillean Pewee can adapt to drier, semi-arid regions, offering ecological versatility with its presence in coastal mangroves and scrubs.
