Feeding Habits
White-throated Treecreeper primarily consumes ants and also feeds on nectar, preferring rough-barked trees for foraging. It employs gleaning, peering, and drilling methods to extract insects and has been observed eating bracket fungus.
Habitat
The white-throated Treecreeper typically occupies a diverse array of wooded environments including both tropical and subtropical rainforests, as well as cool temperate forests with southern beech dominance. It thrives in wet and dry sclerophyll forests, wherein eucalypts ranging from stringybarks to smooth-barked gums form the canopy, with varying understoreys of shrubs or grass. Additionally, white-throated Treecreeper makes use of riparian woodlands and inland areas with vegetation like cypress pine and brigalow. Its habitat spans from lowlands to lower highland regions, tolerating select logged areas but generally avoiding regions that have been clear-felled or overgrazed.
