Description
The harlequin quail (Coturnix delegorguei) is a species of bird in the family Phasianidae. It occurs in Africa and in the Arabian Peninsula. The species is named after the collector, Adulphe Delegorgue.

Feeding Habits
Harlequin Quail feeds on a diverse diet comprising grass and weed seeds, green shoots, and various invertebrates like grasshoppers, beetles, and caterpillars. These birds forage within cover but may also be seen alongside roads. They exhibit sociable feeding in groups, particularly outside the breeding season.
Habitat
The harlequin Quail primarily inhabits open grasslands with interspersed bushes or palms, as well as cultivated fields. It can also be found in lightly wooded savannas and grassy areas near watercourses or in lowland floodplains. While it often occupies shorter, more degraded grassland areas, it typically avoids regions at higher elevations.
