Description
The stripe-crowned spinetail (Cranioleuca pyrrhophia) is a species of bird in the family Furnariidae. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forest and subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest. The species shows considerable plumage variation following Gloger's rule. It is known to hybridize with Cranioleuca obsoleta in Southern Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Feeding Habits
Stripe-crowned Spinetail primarily eats arthropods, including ants and beetles. It forages alone or in pairs, sometimes within mixed-species groups, across various heights. Its feeding behavior involves hitching and climbing on small branches and gleaning food from surfaces like bark and mosses, often performing acrobatic maneuvers.
Habitat
Stripe-crowned Spinetail typically resides in a range of woodland habitats, from tropical deciduous and gallery forests to arid montane and second-growth scrub. This species adapts to diverse woodland environments, including semi-humid deciduous forests and the arid Chaco scrub, as well as areas with Alnus and Podocarpus trees, broadly distributed over various regions in the Americas.
