Feeding Habits
White-throated Canary primarily consumes seeds, berries, and buds, particularly those from a variety of plants like Euphorbia and Protea. It forages on the ground and in vegetation, sometimes digging for termites or pursuing them in flight. White-throated Canary typically feeds alone, in pairs, or in small to large flocks and may join mixed-species groups.
Habitat
White-throated Canary typically resides in semi-arid to arid habitats, favoring lowland dry savannas and grasslands intermingled with bushes, thorn-scrub, and occasional gardens. These birds are also common in coastal fynbos, desert fringes, dunes, and rocky hillside scrubs. They often inhabit areas with dry riverbeds and the outskirts of cultivated lands, frequently found near water sources. White-throated Canary's habitat range extends to various high-altitude tropical and subtropical environments, specifically dry shrubland areas.
