Description
The Vietnamese cutia (Cutia legalleni) is a bird species in the family Leiothrichidae. It is found in Laos and Vietnam. It was long considered a subspecies of the Himalayan cutia (C. nipalensis), making the genus Cutia monotypic. In recent times, it is more often elevated to full species status. Its natural habitat is tropical moist montane forests. The Vietnamese Cutia is not considered threatened by the IUCN, but as its range is far more restricted than of its western relative, it is classified as a Near Threatened species after the split.

Feeding Habits
Vietnamese Cutia primarily feeds on insects, supplemented with seeds and berries. It forages slowly along branches and trunks, often in small groups, sometimes with other babblers.
Habitat
The vietnamese Cutia is typically found in environments consisting of broadleaf evergreen forests and mixed broadleaf-pine forest regions. These birds may occasionally inhabit pure pine forests, particularly when such areas are in proximity to broadleaf vegetation. Their habitat selection is characterized by dense, forested regions with a variety of tree species, though elevational preferences are excluded from this summary.
